Essential Elements
Essential Elements I: Essential Elements I is the first of a four part music theory sequence. Topics to be covered will include: the basics of rhythm, pitch, pitch class identification, staff and ledger lines.
Essential Elements II: Essential Elements II is the second of a four part music theory sequence. Topics to be covered will include: pitch registration, major scales, minor scales, key signatures, intervals, simple and compound meter.
Aural Elements
Aural Elements I: Aural Elements I is the first of a four part music ear training/sight-singing sequence. Topics to be covered will include: the basics of rhythm dictation, solfegé. Students will develop skills for listening, repeating, sight-singing, and writing music down completely by ear. (this course is suggested with Essential Elements I)
Aural Elements II: Aural Elements II is the second of a four part music ear training/sight-singing sequence. Topics to be covered will include: Relative Pitch development, intervals, melodic diction, notating rhythms with triplets, identifying rhythms in 6/8, 9/8, 3/8 and solfegé. Students will develop skills for listening, repeating, sight-singing and writing music down completely by ear. (this course is suggested with Essential Elements II)
