Record Producer, Internationally Respected
Musician, Lecturer and Teacher.
He has taught many symposiums and workshops on music ministry in the African-American Church, and The Music Industry. He is CEO of the S. Ford Music Productions, S. Ford Music Publishers and co-owner of Sparkle Sound Studios. As a native of Philadelphia, Steven Ford was appointed head musician at the age of 9 years old at his father's church. He shortly there after began his musical career as a studio musician, performing on numerous recordings, television and radio commercials. Stevens' infatuation with recording and musical arranging soon became the driving force behind his maturity into a consummate musician, writer, arranger and producer.
Stevens' production and arranging skills have been a contributing factor for the success of over 85 album projects for such artists as; Richard Smallwood & Vision, The Winans, Bishop TD Jakes, Vickie Winans, Donnie McClurkin & The McClurkin Family, Shirley Caesar, Maurette Brown-Clark, The Mighty Clouds Of Joy, The Williams Brothers, John P. Steven's contribution on numerous album/CD productions have awarded, 2 Grammy Awards, 12 Grammy Nominations, 5 Dove Awards, and 10 Stellar Awards. Steven served as Musical Director for the Broadway and National Theater hit stage productions of: "Don't Get God Started", "God's Trombones", "I'm Coming Home", and "Bobo's", an Urban Opera.
Stevens' orchestrations and scores can be heard in the films, "Born Out Of Time -The Life of Benjamin Franklin", "Going For The Gold", "DuPont 50th Year Anniversary", and "The Philadelphia Diary Story".
He graduated with the highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Fine Arts in orchestration and composition from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in composition and electronic music from Eastern University. He also studied piano with Dr. Vera Eubanks, Dr. Susan Duer and, voila with Dr. Morris Schozstock. In 2010, Steven received a Doctorate Laureate in Sacred Music from the Pentecostal Bible College of Tuskegee, AL. He is the author of two books, "Is Your Music Department Ministry or Misery?" and "Can I Take Your Order?" He is married to Deborah Williams- Ford; they have a son, Aaron and reside in Delaware. In 2008, Steven and Deborah founded The Steven Ford Music Symposium.
